  1. I have watched many "kitchen essentials" postings, and one tool I use frequently seems to be missing from all of them, and that is a mortar and pestle. Not the same as a mixer or a blender, for they have different purposes, but I guess mortar and pestles are a thing of the past. Not in my kitchen though.

  2. It is useless video – from the start it tell – buy 600 dollars cheff knife – is everyone is buying kitchen knife for 600$? I am not buying kitchen aid mixer because it costs 700 and you proposing to buy a knife for 600 – definitely dislike

  3. Would add food grade mineral oil. Not just for the cutting boards but for all wood such as handles, spoons and spatulas. I start out every day with a cutting board before using and every other day with utensils and handles. After two weeks it gets used. After a month, then every other day. eventually it goes to once a month. Probably anal retentive but it still looks gorgeous after 30+ years.

  4. 14:16 unfortunately those storage containers just because they are BP’A’ free does not mean they are BP ‘B,’ ‘F,’ ‘M,’ and/or ‘S’ Free. Once I learned that BPA free means almost nothing, I switched everything over to not plastic (where/when I could)

  5. Thanks for this very helpful video on essential tools for the kitchen. My 5 children are all in their 30’s and building their kitchen tool collections. They all are great cooks and the 3 boys do most of the cooking for their families. Also, my goddaughter is newly engaged and will be needing to develop her kitchen essentials. This is great for giving family and friends ideas for shower and wedding gifts. 🤗

  6. I'm so proud to say that i have every single tool you mentioned EXCEPT the knife sharpener – my steel hone seems to suffice just fine. I threw my chinois away-too bulky for my small space. Enjoyed the tools video and enjoying your channel. ty. My very favorite peeler is by Kyocera used mainly for carrots. And you're right, tools last long time by hand washing and drying. I baby all my tools.

  7. Do NOT use these pull through sharpeners on your expensive knives!! They will grind them down way too fast and can even severly damage them. Especially if you are using high quality japanese cutlery, your knives will chip! Go for whetstones instead.
