  2. A much-loved staple in our Ohio home every summer! My mom would simmer the beans in homemade chicken stock with smoked ham shanks before adding the potatoes. Served with fresh corn bread, this was a one-bowl meal from heaven.

    She did almost the same meal with kale and great northern beans in the late fall. Also delicious!

  3. By the way, you do a good job this really good video and that’s a really good meal. I’m gonna tell you what I’m sure this comes from boiled dinner and somebody didn’t have all the ingredients.

  4. No, I want as much fat in it as possible it infuses into the potatoes and the green beans. Oh so good you already eat tons of highly processed garbage grease what is it problem with eating good wholesome pig fat

  5. The other thing is check all your green beans to make sure they’re clean and a lot of these green beans that are around in the winter time can be bad spots in them so make sure you cut out all the gross stuff

  6. Green beans need to well cooked! I don't want crispy green beans. This dish is really good made with a "cottage ham". Cottage ham is what people not from Cincinnati call a smoked pork butt! The extra fat from the pork shoulder make it delicious!!

  7. Ah man, i gorgot all about this. My Dad was Pa Dutch and we ate this all the time. We would add vinegar as a condiment though. I gotta make this for my Italian wife, ought to be funny. 🙂

  8. My Grandmother had me "snap these here beans" with her every summer. She also had me canning veggies, fruits and various jams and jellies with her!!!! Some of the greatest memories I have her are over food and kitchen prep! I have tried to pass on as many of these traditions as I can to my daughter. Thanks for reminding us how important our heritage is Cheff. Amazing looking soup. My daughter and I are definitely gonna try this one!!!!
