In Japan, we usually eat mochi made of "ใใก็ฑณ" (glutinous rice) or "ใใ้ค " (cut mochi) not from rice flour.

I had imagined the Mochi was on the outside. Adding a layer of nearly tasteless goo does not seem a great idea. Perhaps if you had incorporated some sharp cheddar into the mochiโฆ
