I’ll also be honest. Often the people getting offended are usually on behalf of people whose culture they are defending- more often than not- never the original culture.
If you don’t like a food it’s ok to say that. People need to stop being so sensitive about these things. I hate Indian food. I mean all of it! Don’t care if Indian people get upset. To me it’s gross. Doesn’t mean I hate their culture or people. I am Salvadoran and you can dislike pupusas 🫓 😅. I don’t care 🤷🏻♀️.
I understand giving a food you don't like another try and see if it can taste better when you cook it different way. I don't understand trying it again just because you're scared to offende other cultures.
It’s nice to see people give food a second chance. Some foods I genuinely don’t like, ever. But some just need the proper context to taste good! I thought vegemite was disgusting, but that’s because my first time trying it, I just tasted it on its own. After having a little bit over toast, I can say it’s actually just decent. Not my go to topping, but it’s fine. A food I actually don’t like is shrimp. I’ve tried it every way under the sun. Fried, boiled, roasted, grilled, baked. I just cannot get over the flavor and texture.
I cannot understand why saying a did is gross or just that you don’t like it isn’t okay because it hurts someone else’s feelings. That is so weird. If I say I hate burgers as an American, do I hurt my own feelings? Wild and dumb. Tempeh is weird. It’s weird to make from scratch. It’s weird to eat. It dues taste delicious though….TO ME.
Everybody is allowed to not like certain foods. Don’t let the mob control you. Tempeh is not for everyone. I made it and loved it. I gave some to multiple people, 75% liked it, the other didn’t
I think some people discount tempe out because they just cook it as a meat replacement! Since people are more familiar with tofu and that also comes from soybeans, people treat it similarly. However, I think tofu is more or less flavorless, it just has that hint of soy, whereas tempe has a stronger soy taste and a unique texture. I honestly gag thinking about eating tempe with BBQ sauce or anything like that. I do love tempe in traditional Indonesian food, I think it tastes way way better! I think this is the point people are trying to make when they say tempe is a cultural dish. It’s “annoying” to see people say it’s gross when they’re not cooking it with tried & true recipes
Just wondering something… where the people offended in your previous video actually Indonesian ? Or… dutch (lots of tempeh there due to colonisation etc) ? Cause I find that most times, comments like this do not come from people actually concerned by it. Personally I’m half French half Asian, and if someone dislikes the foods of my culture, I really don’t mind as long as it’s brought up in a respectful and non mocking way. We all have our tastebuds guys ! Can’t like everything !
I'm Indonesian and the I only time I find tempeh tasty is when it's covered in batter and deep fried😂 Liking and disliking certain food is not a cultural thing.
Im literally in my tempeh era this year I boil it in water with garlic then cook it
You’re allowed to say a cultural dish is disgusting. 🤷🏽♀️ Tempeh isn’t good. 🤷🏽♀️
I don't like Tempe and I sell it lmao. I'm Malaysian.
I’ll also be honest. Often the people getting offended are usually on behalf of people whose culture they are defending- more often than not- never the original culture.
You can dislike a food. It’s not going to hurt someone’s culture.

How is admitting a food is gross harmful to a culture
Thank you for sharing this recipe 🖤✨ It's delicious & I appreciate your thoughtfulness in making this video 😊

I love tempeh
Ugh, that outfit is going to age like milk

I’ve marinated tempeh before and it’s so so good. I actually don’t even hate the taste of tempeh alone.
Honestly shocked you thought tempeh was gross.
People are allowed to dislike foods from different cultures
You still likely don’t “like” tempeh. You like something covered in a thick coat of aggressive seasonings that is edible.
I wanted Tempe but I got teets
how do I find the recipe?
I would love to see you add more info about the cultural foods you try. Great video!!
Soybread delicious

😢 cooking tempeh kills the beneficial bacteria😮
Tempeh is a food that looks like it’s going to 100% make me puke when I try it.

Making healthy food but fry and oil? 😮😊
Who would have thought frying something makes it taste better!
I’m gonna try this because I always wanted to like it but grossed out cuz I felt like it tastes like a fart 😂
That’s messed up, you should be able to like and dislike whatever you want. Thank you for your content
i'm ok with tempeh but i'm nervous about the spiciness
Just because it is cultural doesn’t mean people can't like.

Tf is a cultural food? All food belongs to cultures. You’re free to hate any food, or culture for that matter.
