I learned a long time ago that if you want a really moist cake, take ANY recipe, pour into a cake pan and place in a steamer. Cut the bake time in HALF. It's almost impossible to burn it because there is no direct heat.

nah the rice cooker is normal, its not malfunctioning. cuz it was made to cook rice not anything else, kinda like defense mechanism, we dont want the rice to burnt so it automatically switch to warm

Late comment but rice cookers basically stop when the internal magnet reaches a certain temperature, that’s why she can’t force her to stay in cooking mode, the magnet is already hot
Those simple rice cookers have a thermostat that turns off the heat when it reaches its parameters for rice. I tape down the button with a good duck tape.
Shouldve put a cloth on the lid when steaming the cake so it wont have that brain texture on the top.
You have to put water in the bottom and steam the cake in a steamer above the water.
The cooker will turn off once there's no moisture left, so it's not detecting any steam.

The on and off thing is easy peasy. Just turn on again after a minute or two or put something heavy on the lid to keep on cooking.

While "please do not attempt " is probably the best advice when it comes to these challenges, I feel like at least a "proceed with extreme caution " would suffice for the less dangerous appliances. Like, I think the rice cooker would cause the least amount of harm, while the dishwasher and clothing iron would fall into the "extremely dangerous" category.

Okay! I have watched this particular video from this series so many times because I want to make this meal. I have been trying to think of a romantic meal I can make for valentine's day for my husband and I this year that will be inexpensive, and then I remembered this video and that she says that mussles are inexpensive! I know Cornish game hens are pretty inexpensive, and obviously so are potatoes and the aromatics. I know I will have most of the ingredients for a cake on hand! I don't know if I'll use these exact recipes, but I am so excited!
