Starting in water that isn't already boiling is terrible advice. There's no way to cook them consistently if you do that, if you put in more or less/hotter or colder water than last time it will be quicker or slower to come up to the boil and cook

I wasn’t able to do it…..and mind you I can cook more complex things but for some reason boiled eggs are my weakness.

Too many steps for just boiling eggs.
So, I add a little bit of horseradish sauce in when I do the yolk mix and instead of paprika, I use zatarans, Tony's, or slap yo momma. I'm telling you. Just give it a try.
